Mr Suresh Malik, a world-renowned Civil Engineer by profession can aptly be called as the pioneer of modern bridges, highway & transportation sector in India. But before starting the Indian chapter he had already broken the white bastion in USA which he chose as his second home. He did his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Thapar College of Engineering in 1964 (First in course) and he completed his master’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Washington, USA in 1966 (First in course). He has been always a leader since his youth and his contribution of bringing students of American and other ethnicities of Asian origin culturally closer was overwhelmingly recognized by the US Govt which and they gave him the Honorary Citizenship of USA in the year 1966 while he was still pursuing his Master’s degree. The Mayor of Seattle personally gave him the Key to the city of Seattle which is considered the highest honour a citizen would get in Seattle as it grants the receiver unconditional access to any government office in the city at his will without any pre-appointment.
Mr Malik is an institution in himself when it comes to civil engineering. He is one of the most dynamic CEOs of Indian origin who has held India’s head high all over the word. He in his long prestigious career has completed some of the most complex civil engineering projects. These projects were designed and constructed using the latest softwares and technologies available anywhere in the world in those times. He has worked developed countries where excellence is the only way to grow and move forward and emerge as a leader.
He was the first Indian to head as Managing Director (International) of Golder Associates Inc – One of the World’s Top 20 ENR Design firms (1995-97), He was again the first Indian to head as Managing Director (International) of Sverdrup -Jacobs -a fortune 500 company and arguably the world’s biggest engineering group from 1997 -2001.
He is heading as Chairman, MSV, an ISO 9001:2015 certified, one of the leading engineering & multi-disciplinary consulting organization - a global leader in the field of Civil consulting worldwide (2001 onwards).
Mr Malik, while working with the world’s top Infrastructure development companies delivered professional services across the project lifecycle – from planning, design and engineering to consulting and construction management several key strategic initiatives, including government affairs, expansion in the commercial sector and with global governments and establishing expertise in resilience on large-scale critical infrastructure projects.
With more than 50 years of experience in the engineering and infrastructure industry, Mr. Malik is also active in numerous industry associations.
He was elected Chairman of the Transportation Committee of “United States India Business Council (USIBC)” for the years 2000 and 2001 and assisted in formulation of US Policies towards India for the transportation sector as well.
Mr Malik’s leadership skills, dedication to work and knowledge of the domain topped up by his humble attitude was the key movers that no one could ignore. As MD (International) with Jacobs – A 2 billion Dollar Corporation in the year 2000, he leveraged his vast professional experience in planning and implementation of infrastructure Projects worldwide (in 79
countries) heading a work force of over 75,000 employees. In his illustrious career, he has worked on projects spanning from highways, bridges, airports, tunnels, ports, buildings, water, energy, environment etc. Many of his projects have turned
out to be iconic landmarks of modern engineering in the respective countries. He was in the project principal for Design/supervision of some of the most prestigious and iconic cable-stayed bridges which are recognized as the engineering marvels in the world like:
